Organic Foods

As most people do, I too, in the beginning, thought very little of organic & gluten free foods. My only thought was that these foods were expensive. I assumed they were over priced and over hyped as most things are. Then I tried a few of the organic fruits and vegetables, I was amazed! They tasted exotically delicious!

Everyone has heard that organic & gluten free foods are better and healthier for you, but still many don't believe that it warrants the extra cost. It is true that organic food is a little more expensive than non organic, but the benefits this type of food brings to our body far outweighs the smaller extra price we have to pay out of our wallets. However it is not just the health benefits that organic and gluten free foods bring, the taste will really amaze you too.

Intense Flavor
Let´s put aside for the moment the powerful effects and wonderful benefits that organic food has. Let´s assume that you are like the vast majority of the population, and don´t really care what you put into your body, so long as it tastes good. You are even willing to pay a little more if the flavor is that good. Well, surprise! Organic food is delicious. These fruits and vegetables burst with flavor. You can almost taste the sunshine, the garden, and spring in these foods.

When you compare organic to non organic fruits and vegetables, the first difference you will notice is the taste. The taste of organic fruits and vegetables is incredible. The flavor is so much more intense than other fruits and vegetables. You will immediately know that there is a difference. This alone is worth changing from non organic to organic foods.

You will be amazed at the flavor of simple vegetablesteamed s and naturally cooked meals with gluten free foods and organic vegetables. You don´t have to be chef to make delicious meals, you don´t even have to know how to cook so long as you used unprocessed gluten free foods and organic foods. This food will seem wonderful for you and your family.

Once you start using gluten free foods you will notice the difference and you will start to notice that processed food are lacking in flavor. It´s as if your taste buds have woken up after a long sleep.

The Health Benefits
Organic foods are very healthy and you can see the way your body reacts to them almost immediately. It has an inherent enzyme which improves the elimination of toxins and improves the digestive process. This gives you more energy, less fatigue, and you will feel rejuvenated. Because of the ease with which our body digests organic foods, and because of the added fiber, we eat less of the gluten free and organic foods, and eliminate more waste. Thus this type of food helps us lose weight.

Processed foods on the other hand make the body work harder at digestion leaving you tired, and zapping your energy. They leave toxins in your body which clog up your intestines and cause your digestive system to over work. Even if you don't change to a full organic foods diet, the addition of organic vegetables and gluten free foods into your diet will give you a fuller feeling and will reduce the cravings for processed foods. Over time you will see a drop in weight.
Over the course of your life time the investment you place into gluten free foods, and organic foods will pay off. You will lead a healthier life. You will reduce the risk of prolonged diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, and even arthritis. Believe me, the cost of treating these will be much more than what organic and gluten free foods cost. Need help in purchasing organic foods, we can help. organic foods

Five Organic Foods Pregnant Women Should Add to Their Diet

It is important to try to add organic food to your diet so you can make sure that your baby is as healthy as possible. Here are five essential organic foods to consume during a pregnancy.
Soy: Soy is grown using pesticides. It's integral that these pesticides are avoided during pregnancy. Furthermore, products made from organic soy beans can yield a ton of nutrients, making them exceptionally nutritious for the mother and her unborn child.
Beef: According to an article published in the Oxford journal, moms who chose to add beef to their diet (from conventionally raised cattle) during their pregnancy had sons with a much lower sperm count. The researchers believed that this was because the cattle were injected with unnatural hormones which were made to increase the amount of meat that could be harvested. You can see why beef is such an important food item to eat organically.
Milk: Milk also contains artificial hormones, so it is similarly leads to consequences in a newborn if a mother chooses to drink it though. However, that's not all. Milk also contains pesticides and antibiotics. These can all be dangerous to a newborn, and can even be transmitted into the mother's breast milk.
Apples: Conventional apples simply don't have as much nutrients as organic potatoes. This one is simple. The more nutrients consumed the better, so mothers should try to consume as many organic apples as possible.
Potatoes: Conventionally harvested white potatoes contain the greatest level of pesticide contamination. Instead, one should choose to eat organic potatoes so that this exposure can be lessened.

Is Organic Food & Organic Farming the Future?

Businesses such as GuideMeGreen green directory and the co-op offer a real alternative for people concerned with these issues and with businesses that combine a strong ethical dimension in tandem with making profits.
Here are some of the main features of organic farming:
? Organic farming severely restricts the use of artificial chemical fertilisers and pesticides.
? Instead, organic farmers rely on developing a healthy, fertile soil and growing a mixture of crops.
? Animals are reared without the routine use of drugs, antibiotics and wormers common in intensive livestock farming.
Synthetic dyes and ingredients such as Sudan1 were in the national news in February and can cause cancer. See www.food.gov.uk for further details. Genetically modified (GM) crops and ingredients are not allowed under organic standards.

Why Buy Organic?

It has never been easier to shop for organic food, and there has never been so much choice. Every food category now has an organic alternative. Its also common sense; organic food is good food. Good to eat, good for the environment, good for the small-scale farmers and the farm workers who produce it.

Chefs across the country are committed to using organic ingredients because plants from healthy soils and organically fed livestock provide us with more flavorful food. Organic foods allow true flavour to shine through unlike other non-organic foods that look and taste good but are often full of E numbers and artificial flavourings and ingredients.

By supporting local, sustainable and organic farms in your local community you also support the larger community of which we are all a part. By eating organic food you are providing the healthiest choice for your family and supporting the farms that provide us with healthy and ecological neighbourhoods.

The 'go local' food movement is flourishing - over 15% of people buy organic food locally and this number continues to rise as the number of farmer's markets, box schemes, cafes and restaurants serving organic food increase. GuideMeGreen helps you to find locally produced foods which are fresher, healthier and more economical. It cuts down on transport costs and 'food miles' where an average shopping basket can include fruit and vegetables transported from all over the world.

The big supermarkets in the UK are about to introduce there own vegetable box schemes. This is good because the supermarket schemes should encourage more people to buy organic food and are likely to raise the profile and public awareness of the benefits of organic box schemes in general. These new organic consumers will hopefully become convinced of the benefits of organic food and become more interested in and aware of the advantages of buying local too. The supermarket schemes could therefore be a positive first step on people's journey to buying organic, local food generally and perhaps moving on to subscribe to independent box scheme businesses - as well as supporting other local food outlets like farmers' markets or independent retailers.

The supermarkets themselves may find their businesses becoming subject to more far-reaching changes, as their customers are exposed to the principles and practices which inspire the original local food and grassroots box-scheme movement.

Better for the environment !

GM free

European law prohibits the use of genetically modified organisms (GMO) in any aspect of organic food and farming. This means that organically reared animals are not genetically modified in any way and their feed is free from any genetically modified material.

When an organism is genetically modified, genes from another species are spliced into it. This is intended to provide some benefit - increase yields, speed up growth or make the organism more resistant to pests, for example. However, GM technology is very much in its infancy. When changes are made to an organism's genes, they often have effects other than those intended. Given the possible calamitous effects of these changes, many people think it prudent to exclude GM food from their diet.

BSE free

The livestock neural disease Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), which can cause the related disease Creutzfeld Jacob Disease (CJD) in humans, was caused by livestock feed containing animal proteins. As well as being unnatural, such feeding practices enable diseases such as BSE to be transferred between species.

Recognising that this could be a potential hazard, the Soil Association banned the use of animal proteins in feed for organically reared animals in 1983. There has not been a case of BSE recorded in an organically managed herd since before 1985.
    Organic meat is BSE free

Organic food contains far fewer artificial additives, if any at all
Fewer artificial additives

Antibiotics, growth promoters and other additives are added to non-organic meat during the animal's life and while the meat is prepared for consumption. Normal intensive farming methods mean that animals live in overcrowded, unhealthy conditions where disease would quickly spread through the herd were antibiotics not used. Although antibiotics are still used to treat organically reared animals, the healthier living conditions of the animals mean that antibiotics are used prudently to treat specific ailments, rather than as a preventative method.

Once the animal has been slaughtered and the meat is being prepared for human consumption, additives are often added to it to improve the flavour, colour or texture of the meat, or to make it stay fresh longer. Organic food producers are prohibited from using additives that research has shown may be harmful to human health, such as sulphur dioxide or artificial colourings. But as our organic meat is reared more naturally, the meat has its own natural flavour, texture and colour, and does not need any artificial enhancers!

More nutritious

Organically reared meat is more nutritious not only because it contains far fewer artificial residues, toxins and additives and has no risk of diseases such as BSE, but also because it contains more naturally occurring minerals, vitamins and anti-oxidants.

Scientific studies have shown that animals fed on ,food have better reproductive health, growth, recovery from illness and vitality than animals fed non-organic food. These health benefits have even been show to be passed down through generations.
Organic food is more healthy as well as being tastier!

Organic farming methods impact far less on the environment, both at a local and a macro level
Better for the environment

Organic farming works in harmony with nature. Organic animal feed is grown without pesticides, herbicides and artificial fertilizers, which means there are no damaging toxins released into the environment. Organic farming methods are sustainable - crop rotation allows the soil's fertility to recover naturally. No fossil fuels or other resources are used to create chemicals to fertilize the soil or treat the crops. The lack of pesticides also means that wild plants and animals can happily live in and around organic farms, encouraging biodiversity.

Better for the animals

For a farm to be registered organic, it must comply with rigorous animal welfare standards. These ensure that the animals are not overcrowded, have comfortable bedding, have access to fields, and are allowed to express their natural behaviour patterns. Livestock are mainly grazed on herb and clover rich grass, rather than processed feed. Organically reared animals lead as natural and healthy lives as possible. Conventional farms treat their animals as a product or commodity, so being able to cram animals in, use cheap processed feed or speed the growth of the animal increases profitability. Organic farms are still, of course, run for profit, but recognise that some people are prepared to pay a little extra for healthier food from happier animals on farms that do not impact on the environment.

Better for your taste buds!

Most people who eat organic food do so because they find it tastes nicer than conventionally farmed food. In the case of the meat we sell, this is because of the animal's diet, freedom and well being. Organically raised animals eat herb and clover rich grass, which flavours their meat. They are given freedom to forage, graze and exercise. This makes the meat leaner, denser, less fatty and improves the texture and flavour. The animals are allowed to mature naturally, without growth promoters, which allows flavour to develop. And because the animals live more natural, stress free lives, damaging acids do not build up in the meat and the meat has a better texture.

Organic Foods !

If you are looking for the best foods to serve to your family, you make a mistake when you use certified organic food. This may be the best type of food that can be found in today's markets. You can find all kinds of meat in organic varieties, which may include beef, chicken or even lamb and fish. As far as the meat can be considered certified, and also products such as milk or even products.

Certified organic foods that people are looking in stores today, is it really to the Food and Drug Administration before it is approved or certified as organic. This certification is regularly updated with new measures and methods of treatment, and raise the birth.

Why certify?

When it comes to certified organic products, many people who are not familiar with it may wonder why even certified? It's actually an easy answer, because it revolves around the fact that people want proof that organic food as organic really are. If a farmer is certified by the USDA or the farm management in the world to produce food, they will work diligently to maintain. This certification is a ticket for the farmer to pay more than what they offer, and there is no evidence that consumers buy food that is the best quality possible. Organic certification is mandatory for any farmer who s looking to provide the stores with organic products. This will also store and the customer will be appreciated by the whole process as well.

There are very strict production control model for all farmers to obtain the certification of organic food stamps. Often, farmers are required to take courses on new ways to produce what were once so familiar.

Increased sales

If the store is looking for ways to improve the sale of food, one of the best ways to introduce organic foods roster today. This is one of the fastest ways you can bring a new client health consciousness. When people hear that the shop offers organic food, come to see what is offered. People are very cautious about what they eat, and when it comes to healthy food is at any cost. Organic food may cost a little 'shop seems as guardian, then it takes the surface, but the benefits of using these foods to customers could prove to be a very wise choice.

Organic food is the best food money can buy today. You will appreciate the quality of the product when you see, but the real difference will be when you take your first bite. Clean and natural taste of the product will easily make you forget all other foods of this kind.

Why Buy Organic Foods ?

Why should you consider purchasing organic? Isn't it more expensive and just a marketing ploy? Actually, no. Organic foods are a reaction to the overuse of pesticides and growth chemicals in food production and processing, and may help you protect your health.
Organic products also help out local farmers and ranchers. You are often purchasing locally produced foods, if you buy organic. This keeps money in your local economy, and is environmentally sound because it limits the amount of fuel used in shipping to market.
These are all noble goals, but the bottom line is that with some items, buying organic is a matter of protecting your health. Other products are fairly resilient and not affected by organic practices, either because they are protected by a thick skin or because they don't soak up and retain the chemicals used in growing.
Other products are made much healthier through organic practices, including the following:
1. Meat: Nonorganic farming in large factory farms involves the use of both antibiotics (to keep down infections from unsanitary conditions and overcrowding, often) and growth chemicals (to encourage the animals to grow to maturity more quickly and be larger than they otherwise would). When you eat animals who had been fed these compounds, you often ingest the antibiotics and chemicals as well.
Another reason to choose organic meat is kindness toward animals. Any meat that is marked organic comes from animals who have been permitted time outside at least daily.
2. Coffee: watch for the Fair Trade label on coffee packages, as well as the organic label. If you buy fair trade coffee, you can be comfortable knowing that you are helping to support workers who have been paid fair wages for their labor.
3. Some fruits: the Environmental Working Group has put out a list naming which foods tend to have high concentrations of chemicals. The number one item on this list, with the highest concentration of chemicals, is peaches. Always purchase organic peaches. The thin skin of a peach, together with the pulpy fruit, means that they tend to absorb and retain the chemicals that they have been grown with.
Other fruits that hold pesticides, and that you may want to purchase organic, are: apples, strawberries, cherries, and grapes. Wine, since it comes from grapes, should also be purchased organic when possible.
There are numerous benefits in buying organic products. Also, there are benefits in buying small bathtubs! Find out more at http://smallbathtubs.net.

Fight Gout With Organic Foods

A balanced, healthy metabolism requires a nutritionally adequate diet. The sad fact is that in present society, fast food takes up a huge proportion of daily food intake, while fresh fruits and vegetables are absent from many diets. Moreover, many of the items available on fresh produce shelves retain traces of pesticides and even heavy metals. It really is time to switch to healthy eating with organic foods.
The US Department of Agriculture, which developed the Food Pyramid and supports healthy eating with organic foods, has developed criteria for classifying organic foods. Organic foods are those cereals, fruits and vegetables that are grown without any exposure to selenium and molybdenum or pesticides, and without the use of growth hormones or genetic modification, and several other qualifications and exclusions.
When you practise healthy eating with organic foods you will be taking foods that have been evaluated to have nutritional qualities much better than chemically processed foods. Organic foods, for instance have higher contents of trace elements, such as selenium and molybdenum, which are strong anticancer agents. They also nurture the environment in which they are produced.
The healing, energising power of fresh, organic food is more than the sum of its chemical nutrients. Organic foods contain many live enzymes released during germination and sprouting when the plant is surrounded by the radiant power of solar energy. Broccoli, for instance, contains substances known as dithiolthiones, which trigger the formation of specific enzymes, which in turn protect cellular DNA from damage due to carcinogens. But only organic broccoli can assure you that this sequence of chemical reactions has taken place without interference from pesticides, growth hormones, or other foreign agents. We derive our energy from the foods we eat. By healthy eating with organic foods, we draw vitality from plants that are full of vigour themselves.
Recent studies published in professional journals have shown that organic foods are superior in nutritional content to conventionally produced foods. One study reported that organic fruits had almost two times the amount of nutrients than their commercially grown counterparts. Another study showed that the antioxidant level in organic produce was six times more than in traditionally grown commercial versions. The high antioxidant contents that you get from healthy eating with organic foods will contribute immensely to cleansing your body of toxic substances. Organic produce also contain lesser amounts of toxic heavy metals like lead.
There is much to be gained from healthy eating with organic foods. You may go through an adjustment period as your body gets used to the diet change. However, the benefits will be more than you ever expected.
